Born in Rotorua New Zealand in 1990 into a family of watchmakers, jewellers, and diamond setters it was no surprise I would go on to continue the family trade in one form or another into its fourth generation. Though not apparent upon leaving school I knew this was all I wanted to do.
I started training in the art of jade carving in 2010 under the guidance of respected jade carver Pieter Akker. Pieter provided an opportunity for me to gain skills that would later see me producing work of an award winning standard.
After honing my skills in the world of jade, I was offered an Apprenticeship as a manufacturing jeweller, eager to gain a formal qualification and continue the family trade I gratefully accepted this offer. Ten months into my four year apprenticeship I received the Jewellery Manufacturers Federation Apprentice of the year award.
Having gained a high level of technical ability in the aspects of jade and jewellery I could see an opportunity to combine the two successfully, this would go on to be the driving force behind my work until present day.
I constantly look to further my skills within my craft, this took me to Sihui south China in 2015 where I was hosted and trained under the guidance of Chinese master carvers in traditional Chinese jade carving methods.
I have shown work in various exhibitions, and also have works residing in private collections both nationally and internationally, I am fortunate to have had my work pass through the hands and adorn many notable celebrities, sportsman, and dignitaries across the globe.
The quality of my work is a reflection of who I am not only as an artist but as a person.
