SCOTT G PARKER

WORKSHOP

The manufacturing sector of Scott G Parker operates from a self-built shipping container studio.

The jade work is carried out with water flowing over diamond tooling to minimise dust and keep the jade cool, these diamond tools are a variety of shapes, sizes and grits, spun and held by power tools not dissimilar to what your dentist uses.

Following the rough grinding work the sanding and polishing stages take place. These stages are achieved by using diamond sandpaper, silicone carbide stone files, diamond files, and finally polished with fine grit diamond paste.

The manufacture of jewellery in our workshop is carried out much the same way it was over the last century.

A selection of hand tools, in the form of files, pliers, hammers, formers, anvils, saws, along with traditional methods of soldering.

One modern addition to the workshop is the Lampert Puk 4.1 tig welder, allowing us to weld around gemstones and attach foreign metals to one another with a focused heat.

Each new piece we make presents a new set of technical challenges. Tooling and techniques are forever changing to overcome these challenges and do the best possible job.
